Aim: To learn about Mars exploration.
1. Rover facts
2. Design, Draw and Make a Rover
3. Mars facts
1. Rover facts:
Fill in the table below.

Wheels
|
The Mars 2020 rover has six wheels, each with its own individual motor.
The two front and two rear wheels also have individual steering motors. This steering capability allows the vehicle to turn in place, a full 360 degrees. The four-wheel steering also allows the rover to swerve and curve, making arcing turns. |
Solar Panel
|
The rover requires power to operate. Without power, it cannot move, use its science instruments, or communicate with Earth. The main source of power for each rover comes from a multi-panel solar array. They look almost like "wings," but their purpose is to provide energy, not fly.

Laser
|
The target, which will be viewed by InSight's cameras, provides a variety of colors and shapes to help calibrate the lander's cameras. It also shows off international flags representing the agencies, institutions and participating scientists of the mission as of late 2014 (since that time, Italy has contributed an experiment). In the second row are the United States flag and the logos of NASA, the French space agency CNES, which provided InSight's seismometer; and the German Aerospace Center DLR, which provided InSight's heat flow probe.
|
Camera
|
The rover has several cameras focused on engineering and science tasks. Some help us land on Mars, while others serve as our “eyes” on the surface to drive around. We use others to do scientific observations and aid in the collection of samples.
|
Shovel, rock pick,drill
|
The Mars 2020 mission will gather samples from Martian rocks and soil using its drill. The rover will then store the sample cores in tubes on the Martian surface. This entire process is called "sample caching".
Mars 2020 will be the first mission to demonstrate this on Mars. It could potentially pave the way for future missions that could collect the samples and return them to Earth for intensive laboratory analysis.

2. In groups of 3 you will Design, Draw and Make a Mars Rover out of Lego Technics.
Materials:
Materials:
- Lego Technics
- A4 paper
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Eraser
The drawing and model must have:
- 6 wheels
- 1 camera
- 1 tool at the front than includes a shovel, pick and drill.
- 1 solar panel
- 1 laser that points at the ground
( Take a photo and upload your mars rover onto your blog.)

Conclusion:
I learnt That mars has more moons than earth whereas I thought that every planet had the same moon as us. I also found out that it doesn't rain in mars! The thing that surprised me the most was that a day is 0.28101218 and there is 687 days in a year.
