Sentence Structures

Today we have been working on sentence structures. We had to start off with a simple sentence then we had to make it more interesting step by step. The sentence we were all given was: we played a game for hours.

Christmas Food From Around The World

Today Mrs Jack read us a book. It was bout food from all around the world. I learnt that Letterbanket is from the Netherlands. In the Netherlands they speak Dutch. In Germany they eat Stollen at Christmas time. In England they have plumb cake,

Lighthouses

For literacy today we had to read a story and I learnt that in 1862 the Nelson Provincial Council announced that from 4 August and every night thereafter a beam would shine from dusk to dawn from a lighthouse at the boulder Bank the natural breakwater at Nelson Haven.
What I knew about them was that they have a very large light bulb and that they are heavy I just don't know how heavy. What I would like to know is where they buy the light bulbs from and how heavy they are. Light houses look very tall and they have stripes across the lighthouse. I think they look like candy canes. I Read another book aswell and it was called Bean Rock, The things I learnt from this book are.

-July 24 1871 Bean Rock was first built.
-By 1957 all the lighthouses around NZ has been converted to electricity
-1985 Bean Rock lighthouse was starting to show signs of age. The cottage was lifted off by an floating crane. It was renovated onshore, then replaced on the top of new set of foundations, wooden legs and repainted.

Pigeon Opinion Writing

This is my opinion writing about a pigeon, there are 4 different books that we could choose to write an opinion about. I chose to do Don't Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late. Because I think it was the most interesting.

Don’t Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late

I think that you should not let the pigeon stay up late.

The reasons for this are

Also because you need to sleep other wise you won’t have enough energy.

The last and final reason is that he could be energetic the next day and then he could be a happier person.

That is why the pigeon should not stay up late. for this are that when he wakes up he would be cranky and then he might have a bad day or make someone else's day bad.

Battle Of The Mountains

The battle of the mountains was about the mountains all wanting to marry Pihanga because she was the only girl mountain and she was so beautiful. They all fought each other in order to win and marry Pihanga. Pihanga wanted to marry the mightiest of them all. She choose Tongariro.  We had to write some questions so here they are.

Treasure

Last week we had a special literacy task, It was called Treasure, we had lots of different tasks like a story web character lists and rating the story. We had to make it look pretty last seen as we were needing it to be finished before it was looking better. There were 10 tasks and if you didn't do it up to the teachers standards we would't get any points but if we did get it up to there standards we would get full points. To know what points we would be getting whatever task we were up to would be the amount if points given.

Alarm Call

This week we have been writing a story about a goblin and a kitten. We had to create a picture about what will happen next. We also had to include an unexpected twist.

Alarm Call

“Don’t  wake her  up, Don’t  wake  her  up, Please  don’t  wake  her  up.”

The gross green goblin thought to himself as he was tip toeing around along the ground. The cute, innocent looking kitten was sleeping on a very vibrant soft pink pillow. When all of a sudden she woke…

“She has awakened” said the Gross Green Goblin.

The cute little kitten got his claws out and started to claw  the poor goblins feet, he was slicing  them to pieces.

“Ouchhhhhhh” screamed the poor ugly goblin “That hurts, Stop”

“Okay, okay” said the kitten, “I will swap feet now”.

So the poor old goblin was now in pain all over again.

“Ouchhhhhh, noooo, stop please!”.

“Now, now” said the kitten “I will stop slicing as soon as you apologise for nearly standing on me”

“ I’m so very sorry” Said the goblin, and so the kitten stopped.

A week later,

Everything had changed for the poor little ugly goblin, He could no longer walk or run or even stand,   and as for the kitten he was sent to Kitten Discipline School and learnt that he should always leave poor ugly green goblins alone.

Fireworks Poem

This is the fireworks poem that I made. It is an acrostic poem . I had to think about how fire works look sound and how they make me feel.

Fire balls sparkling like a star

Instantly feeling happy
Realizing how pretty the are
Even when the shoot so high
Wishing they would never stop
Or at least go on for hours
Racing up and down
Keeping warm and cozy
So much fun can’t wait to come again
