end of life choice referendum

 End Of Life Choice Referendum.

What is it:

This gives people with terminal illnesses the choice of requesting assisted death. This would mean you take a medication or it's injected into you giving you a peaceful death surrounded by family.

In order to be eligible for assisted death you will need the following:

- Over 18 years of age.

- Be a New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident.

- Suffer from a terminal illness that's likely to end within 6 months.

- Have a significant and ongoing decline in physical capability.

- Experience unbearable suffering that cannot be eased.

- Be able to make an informed decision about assisted dying.

Positives:

- People can choose whether or not they are ready.

- No more suffering.

Negatives

- People under 18 still suffer.

- If you get told you have 8 months left to live you still have to suffer for 2 months before being able to make that decision.

- Doctors may not want to go through that.

In conclusion, I think that people over the age of 13 should be able to make the choice themselves and people under that age can decide whether or not they want to and then the parents can make the final call. However, that's just my opinion. Yes, I support this I just believe that there should be more exceptions.
