Water Filtration Plant

What is filtration?

Filtration is separating solids from liquids by adding a medium through which only the liquid can pass.

Examples are:

  1. Removes bad stuff.
  2. Cleaning
  3.  Water- Takes all of the germs and grossness out so it becomes drinkable
  4. Kettle it boils all of the germs out if the water.

Materials

1.Filter paper-cone
2. Funnel
3.sand
4.pebbles
5.conatiner
6.wet sand /water mush
7.
8.

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )

Step 1

Cut the bottle in half after the teacher put a slit in the middle so we could continue the cut and turn one half into a funnel and the other half into a container..

Step 2

Put the top half upside down .inside the half with out the hole.

STEP 3

Add layers of filter paper then add 1 cup of sand.

STEP 4

Get 1 cup of dirty water from the teacher.

STEP 5

Pour dirty water into the sand and wait and see what colour you water turns as it filters everything out.

Findings

Write a short sentence about the water every 1 minute.
Include 'How much water has filtered through', 'How fast it is dripping through', and 'How clear the water is'.

Minutes                          1.                         2.                   3.                    4.                       5.
Drops per minute: 120 drops
Water colour: light brown
Conclusion:
The water turned clear but with a hint of brown and green. For our group the water flowed at approximately 120 drops per minute. The bark soil and leave sat on top of all the pebbles and sand.
