P.E Sports.

For this lesson of P.E we had to write about a sport that interests us and then write the history of it, what is it, the prize or how to win and some other things. I wrote mine about the Wife Carrying Obstacle/ competition.

Wife Carrying:
This is a competition where a team of one male and one female. The male has to carry the
female through an obstacle type course that includes sand, water and fences.
The first team to reach the end wins their wife's weight in beer.
This sport originated in Finland, the finnish town was named Sonkajärvi
and it started in 1992 but the origins of this bizarre sport have been traced back
to the 1800s Margo Uusorg and Sandra Kullas hold the world record time
for the competition, finishing the 253.5-metre obstacle in 56.9 seconds in 2006. The
rules are that the wife must be over 17 years of age and weigh at least 49 kgs. This
strange sport is actually very entertaining to watch, before I started this task I had
only heard of it once before and I wasn’t really sure what it was but it’s actually
quite interesting.

We also have to do the born to move 25 minute workout 2-3 times a week.

  1. Talia. This appears to be a very entertaining recreational competition. Are their any couples who compete annually and win regularly? I wonder if this activity has caught on in other countries?
